Mark Chavez is a member of the ASIFA (Association Internationale du Film d’Animation / International Animated Film Association), a former chair of the SIGGRAPH Asia 2013 conference’s Art Gallery in Hong Kong and SIGGRAPH Asia 2008 Educators Program. He received his Masters of Fine Arts degree from the University of California Los Angeles’s Animation Workshop. He received his BFA from Arizona State University.
In 2008 he was granted major funding from the National Research Foundation / Media Development Authority of Singapore to establish research in the School of Art, Design and Media at Nanyang Technological University. A collection of work created for the Media Art Nexus LED wall at North Spine Plaza, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.
This project uses a a set of music that we initially derive a base reading from using EEG brainwave monitoring equipment. Then we observe the same feedback when using visuals. Two sets of visuals where completed for this project using Derivative Touch Designer's reactive audio tool-sets. The first set is numbered 1-20 and is in sets of Happy, Exciting, Frightening & Melancholy. The second set is done is sets of 4 with 1-4 being (1) Happy, (2) Exciting, (3) Frightening & (4) Melancholy.
Created for a 15 x 2 meter LED video wall this animation explores audio reactive animation and emotive coding.
